The Truth about Toxins

Hidden Contaminants May Contribute to Poor Health

Our modern world is more toxic than ever before. Experts tell us that in North America alone, more than 6 billion pounds of pollutants are released into the environment every year, with over 200 million pounds of chemicals dumped directly into our waterways and more than 2 billion pounds of chemical emissions released into the air.

But it’s not just giant factories belching out smoke that we need to be concerned about—some of the most dangerous contaminants are lurking right inside our own homes. You may not realize it, but many household cleaners and personal care products contain harsh chemicals and toxic metals that can build up in the body and contribute to everything from weight gain, brain fog and fatigue to digestive problems, headaches, skin problems and more.

Simple Ways to Reduce Your Exposure

Although exposure to harmful contaminants may be unavoidable in today’s increasingly toxic world, there are simple things you can do every day to take back control of your body and your health. Begin by making gradual changes such as replacing everyday cleaning and personal care products with safe, natural alternatives (such as hypoallergenic, aluminum-free deodorant and body wash), installing air and water filters in your home, and opting for pesticide-free organic foods whenever possible.

Regular cleansing and detoxification are also an essential part of fighting back against the onslaught of daily toxins. Natural supplements made with quality herbs, nutraceuticals and other traditionally used ingredients provide powerful support for the organs and organ systems responsible for filtering and eliminating toxins from the body and restoring vibrant health and energy—mainly the lungs, liver, lymphatic system, kidneys, skin, blood and bowel (or colon).

Experts recommend a general total-body cleanse at least twice yearly, combined with targeted detoxification support as needed. Upon completing a general cleanse, a targeted detox formula may be helpful to focus on issues such as healthy liver function. Finally, specially formulated microbial cleanses may help address parasites and yeast as they work to help maintain a healthy balance of intestinal bacteria.
